Popular disinfectant brand Dettol has had to apologise after an advertisement in China drew widespread outrage online. The five-minute ad has been criticised for its storyline depicting a man’s desire to marry a ‘clean, uncontaminated’ woman. The company says the now-removed advert was intended to challenge the ‘toxic man’ persona. China media analyst Manya Koetse speaks to The World about the response to the ad.
